The GT World Challenge America Season So Far

As the racing at Sebring International Raceway drew to a close last month, the 2025 GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season reached its halfway point, and what a season it’s been so far. Across all three classes, tight championship battles have broken out, including standout performances and stars on the rise, setting the stage for a thrilling second half of the year. Let’s break down where the contenders are sitting heading into the summer.

Pro Class

In the Pro class, the No. 99 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO has established itself as the team to beat. Connor De Phillippi and Kenton Koch have been in dominant form, racking up 130 points with four wins to their names, including a commanding weekend sweep at Sebring, and a runner-up finish earlier in the year at Sonoma. Their consistency and outright pace have made them the benchmark as the series moves into its critical summer stretch.

Chasing them down is the No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier, a new pairing on the grid this year. Sitting second with 110 points, the duo has claimed two victories, complemented by a podium-rich campaign featuring a second-place and two third-place finishes. Their ability to maximize points on difficult weekends has kept them firmly in championship contention.

Third in the Pro standings is the No. 18 RS1 Porsche 992 GT3 R piloted by Alex Sedgwick and Jan Heylen. Despite being winless so far, they’ve shown impressive resilience, collecting four second-place finishes and a third for a total of 99 points, remaining well within striking distance. The team is knocking on the door for their maiden win, and given their consistency, it seems only a matter of time before they break through.

Pro-Am Class

In Pro-Am, reigning champions Turner Motorsport continue their title defense in strong form. The No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 EVO pairing of Justin Rothberg and Robby Foley leads the class standings with 108 points, courtesy of two wins, a second-place, and two third-place finishes. Their experience and racecraft have once again made them the team to chase.

Hot on their heels is Regulator Racing’s No. 91 Mercedes-AMG GT3, where Jeff Burton and Philip Ellis have impressed with two wins and two second-place results, amassing 98 points. Known for their signature alternate strategy approach, this bold method has often paid off, making them one of the most entertaining entries on the grid.

Meanwhile, the No. 11 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R of Blake McDonald and Matt Bell is finding its rhythm. A new driver pairing for 2025, the team endured a tough opening weekend at Sonoma but bounced back with a win and podium at COTA and repeated the feat at Sebring. Their upward momentum suggests they’ll be a major factor in the title fight as the season progresses.

Am Class

The battle in the Am class is as tight as it gets, with Jay Schreibman and Oswaldo Negri in the No. 163 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 tied on 93 points with Scott Dollahite in the No. 6 Dollahite Racing Ford Mustang GT3. Both teams have secured three wins and a second-place finish, making for an exciting tussle that could go down to the final race of the year.
