Telitz Leads the Way as Weather Interrupts Practice 2 in Virginia
  • McLaren Fastest in Pro-Am and Overall
  • 1-2 Finish for BMW in Pro Class
  • Practice 2 Results

A mix of early pace and sudden thunderstorms shaped Practice 2 for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS at VIRginia International Raceway. What was scheduled as a slightly shortened 55-minute session was ultimately cut even shorter by a red flag just 10 minutes in due to inclement weather. Despite the disruption, key contenders managed to log competitive laps before the stoppage.

Aaron Telitz set the benchmark in the No. 88 Archangel Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, topping both the overall and Pro-Am timesheets before the skies opened up. In the Pro class, it was BMW veterans Bill Auberlen and Kenton Koch leading the charge for Random Vandals Racing, going 1-2 in class and placing second and third overall, respectively.

Pro Class

Bill Auberlen posted the fastest time in the Pro category and second overall, driving the No. 51 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT3. Teammate Kenton Koch followed closely behind in the No. 99 sister car.

The remaining Pro class entries, including the No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier, and the No. 18 RS1 Porsche 992 GT3 R shared by Jan Heylen and Alex Sedgwick, were on track but unable to log flying laps before the red flag.

Pro-Am Class

Telitz’s early flyer stood as the session’s quickest lap, leading a strong showing from Pro-Am competitors. Kyle Marcelli continued LAB Motorsport’s momentum with a second-fastest time in class in the No. 92 Porsche 992 GT3 R and fourth overall, following up on a strong performance in Practice 1.

Philip Ellis slotted into third in class in the No. 91 Regulator Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, while Tom Sargent put in a solid lap to secure fourth for GMG Racing in the No. 32 Porsche 992 GT3 R. Rounding out the top five was Aaron Povoledo in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
