The Practice 2 session at VIRginia International Raceway saw the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS field back in action for another 60 minutes as they further adjusted their setups ahead of the Qualifying coming up on Saturday morning.
Piloting the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 992 GT3 R, Elliott Skeer clocked an impressive time of 1:45.471 to launch the team to the front in the Pro class and overall timesheets. In the Pro-Am class, it was Aaron Povoledo who seized the spotlight and went quickest in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3, securing second overall in the process.
Pro Class
Elliott Skeer got off to a speedy start in Practice 2 as he went fastest in class and overall in the opening laps with a time a time of 1:45.471 before handing over the No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 992 GT3 R to teammate Adam Adelson.
Zach Veach joined the conversation in his No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 EVO22 as the halfway mark approached, moving up into second place overall, with DXDT Racing’s Alec Udell following closely behind in the No. 63 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
Trent Hindman and Bill Auberlen completed the Top 5 in their respective No. 85 RS1 Porsche 992 GT3 R and No. 28 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 machines.
Pro-Am Class
Bryan Sellers occupied the top spot in the Pro-Am class in the No. 08 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R for the large majority of the session, followed by Adam Carroll in the No. 19 Mercedes-AMG GT3 as the Esses Racing w/ Mercedes-Benz of Austin team made positive strides.
However, with under ten minutes to go, Aaron Povoledo took over the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 and stormed to the top of the Pro-Am class charts, in addition to setting the second-quickest time overall with a flying lap time of 1:45.577.
Phillip Ellis and Jeff Burton completed Practice 2 in fourth place, with Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg rounding off the Top 5 in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3.
