Championship Battles Tighten as GT World Challenge America Hits VIR

The GT World Challenge America powered by AWS championship heads to the rolling hills of VIRginia International Raceway for rounds seven and eight of an already spectacular 2025 season. From July 18th to 20th, the world-class GT3 grid will tackle one of North America’s most scenic and technically demanding natural terrain road courses.

With 32 drivers across 16 entries ready to navigate VIR’s fast straights, high-speed esses, and tricky elevation changes, the championship battles in both Pro and Pro-Am classes are reaching a critical stage. While Sebring delivered intense racing and pivotal points swings, VIR represents the start of the decisive second half of the season.

Following the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, the points battle tightened even further in the Global Manufacturers Championship. Mercedes-AMG held on to their lead with 602 points, but BMW trails closely behind with 596. Porsche has also closed the gap, now with 560 points.

As the SRO America action resumes following the summer break, over 100 entries across six series are set to deliver unprecedented action, with open paddock access, fan activities, and family-friendly entertainment throughout the event adding to the southern spectacle.
