LAB Motorsport is ready to return to action this weekend as the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS championship resumes at the iconic VIRginia International Raceway. After a lengthy summer break, drivers Jean-Frédéric Laberge and Kyle Marcelli are eager to kick off the second half of the season on a high note in the #92 Dagobert Porsche 911 GT3 R (992).
A familiar and favoured venue for Jean-Frédéric Laberge, VIR offers the kind of fast, flowing layout that plays to his strengths, and the Porsche’s. “It’s a track I know well and enjoy driving,” said Laberge. “We’ve had time to reset, and I’m eager to get back behind the wheel. I believe our car will be strong here.”
For teammate Kyle Marcelli, the break between rounds has only fueled his motivation to push.
“It feels like forever ago that I was last behind the wheel of the Porsche,” he said. “That said, I’m looking forward to launching the second half of the SRO GT World Challenge America championship with a good start at VIR. The racetrack should suit the Porsche nicely.”
Marcelli also noted that unpredictable weather and summer heat could be a major factor throughout the weekend. “The weather is a big question mark, which could make things exciting for everyone. And of course, the typical mid-summer heat will add another layer of variables for the tire, setup, driver, and crew. Hoping VIR is a turning point for LAB Motorsport and we can reward the team with success after a season of hard work and character building.”
Race 1 goes green on Saturday at 3:15 PM ET, followed by Race 2 on Sunday at 2:45 PM ET. Fans can catch both races live on the GT World YouTube channel.
