Marcelo and Christian Hahn will once again share the cockpit of the Ferrari 296 GT this weekend, as the father-and-son duo take on the legendary Road America circuit in Wisconsin for the fifth round of the GT World Challenge America. This marks their second consecutive outing together in the AF Corse-prepared machine, run in partnership with Blau Motorsport.
“After a challenging weekend in Virginia, with multiple incidents, I believe we’re now better prepared to face this challenge together,” said Chris Hahn. “I’ve gained more seat time with the car, and we’ll have plenty of free practice sessions, which will help me get a better feel for the track. Road America is a very demanding circuit, but it’s incredibly fun to drive. I’m confident we can leave here with a strong result.”
For Marcelo Hahn, racing at Road America is not uncharted territory. The European and South American GT champion scored a victory in his first and only appearance at the circuit, located in the Great Lakes region of the northern United States, back in 2014. At the time, Hahn was behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo LP600+, competing in the now-defunct Pirelli World Challenge.
“That was a very significant achievement in my career, as winning in the United States has always been a tough task,” Hahn recalled. “It was a comeback race, where I didn’t have a great start but fought my way up through the field. Of course, having that result on my résumé is motivating, but this is a completely different competition. We need to focus on finding a good setup for the car and avoid mistakes during the race if we want to return to Brazil with a trophy in hand.”
