JMF Motorsports Extends Strong Run to Claim Overall Pole at COTA

Qualifying for GT World Challenge America powered by AWS delivered another intense session at Circuit of The Americas for the CieloVision GT World Texas powered by Samsung event, with JMF Motorsports continuing to set the standard at the front of the field. A red flag midway through Qualifying 2 disrupted the rhythm of the session and impacted several drivers who were on flying laps, adding an extra layer of urgency as the field returned to green for the final push.

In the end, JMF Motorsports added another set of double pole positions to their tally, securing the overall ROWE Pole Award with their No. 34 Pro class entry, while the No. 27 Mercedes earned the top spot in Pro-Am. In the Am category, it was AF Corse USA who rose above.

Pro Class

JMF Motorsports carried its momentum into qualifying after going quickest in Practice 1 and 2 earlier in the weekend. Michai Stephens put the No. 34 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the top of the charts in Qualifying 1, setting a best time of 2:04.360 to lead the Pro class and the overall field.

Cameron Lawrence followed closely behind in the No. 6 Dollahite Racing Ford Mustang GT3, securing the second-fastest time in the opening qualifying segment. Matias Perez Companc completed the top three in Pro, placing the No. 12 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO firmly in contention.

Mikaël Grenier picked up right where his teammate left off in Qualifying 2, putting together a rapid 2:03.976 in the No. 34 Mercedes-AMG GT3 to once again place JMF Motorsports at the top. Robby Foley delivered a strong final lap in the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO to move into second in the session, ahead of Frederik Schandorff, who placed third for AF Corse USA.

With the combined times from both qualifying sessions setting the grid, Stephens and Grenier secured the ROWE Pole Award for JMF Motorsports. AF Corse USA will line up second overall, while Turner Motorsport jumped ahead of Dollahite Racing in the combined results to secure third on the grid.

Pro-Am Class

In Pro-Am, Jason Daskalos delivered an impressive flying lap in Qualifying 1 aboard the No. 27 JMF Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3, claiming the fastest time in class and the fifth-fastest lap overall. Behind him, the leaderboard continued to shift as several Porsche entries traded positions in pursuit of the front of the class.

Dave Musial Jr. had a strong Qualifying 1 session and went second-fastest in Pro-Am in the No. 31 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, edging just ahead of JP Martinez in the No. 28 RS1 Porsche.

Qualifying 2 saw GMG Racing’s Tom Sargent rise to the top of the Pro-Am order in the No. 32 Porsche 911 GT3 R, also setting the second-fastest time overall in the session. Aaron Telitz followed in second in class for Archangel Motorsports in the No. 89 McLaren 720S GT3 EVO, while Riccardo Agostini placed third in the No. 18 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3.

JMF Motorsports held on to the Pro-Am pole in the combined results, adding another front-row class start to its strong weekend. GMG Racing’s Kyle Washington and Tom Sargent will start second in class and seventh overall, while RS1’s JP Martinez and Jan Heylen gained the slight edge over Wright Motorsports’ Musial Jr. and Ryan Yardley in the combined order.

Am Class

In the Am class, Jay Schreibman set the early benchmark in Qualifying 1, placing the No. 163 AF Corse USA Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO ahead of Jay Logan in the No. 11 MAD Joker by Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
