Brazil's Diego Nunes joins Marcelo Hahn for Ferrari debut at GT World Challenge America

Brazilian driver Diego Nunes will make his Ferrari debut this weekend as he partners Marcelo Hahn in the penultimate round of the GT World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park. The duo will compete aboard the Ferrari 296 GT3 prepared by the prestigious AF Corse team.

Nunes, who has raced in a variety of series in Brazil and internationally, could not hide his excitement about the new challenge.

“When I got Marcelo’s call, I almost fell off my chair,” Nunes said. “I’m really happy with this opportunity. In more than 20 years of racing, I’ve never competed in a car like this. It’s truly a dream come true. I just have to thank Marcelo for the invitation and Blau, a brand with which I share so much history and many happy moments.”

The 37-year-old previously drove for Blau Motorsport in Stock Car Brazil between 2020 and 2022 and captured the Porsche Endurance Series title alongside Chris Hahn in his final season with the “Blue Team.” Earlier in his career, Nunes also achieved international success, including a runner-up finish in the 2008 Italian Formula 3000 championship and competing in GP2, then the final step before Formula 1.

Hahn is equally enthusiastic about the new partnership.

“Diego is a fantastic driver, experienced, and already has a connection with our brand and our fans,” Hahn said. “I’m really happy to have him with us again, and I hope this new partnership will end on the podium. I already won a trophy with Allam Khodair in Sonoma and another with Chris in Road America — completing the set with Diego would be fantastic.”
